Drawing on her considerable experience in Congress and in the private sector working on issues ranging from energy and commerce to broadcasting and telecommunications, Peggy Binzel provides strategic public affairs advice to Cogent Strategies' clients.

A veteran legislative and regulatory strategist, Peggy served as executive vice president of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association. There, she set legislative and regulatory strategy for the cable television industry during its expansion into broadband and telephony and was the liaison to Cable Labs, the industry’s technology and standard-setting organization.

Earlier, Peggy headed the Washington, DC, office of the News Corporation as senior vice president for government affairs during a period of explosive growth and major policy challenges in Washington, DC. She also served as director of government relations for Turner Broadcasting. Peggy has been a member of the boards of the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing and the National Association of Broadcasters. Her experience in association management informs her work with a wide range of clients in broadcasting, telecommunications, energy and the environment.

More recently, she was president and CEO of CoreNet Global, a worldwide association that focuses on corporate real estate, and senior vice president for technology and communications for a leading communications and public affairs firm. Peggy began her career on Capitol Hill, gaining almost 10 years of experience as legislative director for former Rep. Jack Fields (R-TX), focusing on telecommunications and energy and environmental issues, including major legislation such as the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Superfund and the Clean Air Act.

A budding house flipper in her spare time, Peggy is a native of Duncan, OK, and has a bachelor's in biology from Baylor University.
